Thomas D. Flanigan joined the corporate practice group of McBrayer, McGinnis, Leslie & Kirkland, PLLC as a Partner in May of 2012. Mr. Flanigan graduated with his B.A. in 1995 from the University of Kentucky and from the Louis D. Brandeis School of Law in 2000.

Mr. Flanigan specializes in the areas of entrepreneurial business, lending and commercial services and mergers and acquisitions. He primarily works with clients in the coal, oil and gas, automotive, banking and telecommunications industries and has gained vast experience with a wide variety of transactional and business matters, including complex commercial litigation and class action litigation.

He is on the Board of Directors for the Lexington Children’s Theatre and serves as a Grants Committee Member for the Bluegrass Community Foundation. Mr. Flanigan currently lives in Lexington with his wife, Joanna, and their two children, Tommy and Lola.

Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Flanigan practiced in the Lexington office of Frost Brown Todd LLC.

Mr. Flanigan has represented clients in connection with mergers, acquisitions and dispositions including approximately $60 million purchase of coal company assets, $30 million purchase of coal company assets, and $56 million sale of manufacturing assets.
He has defended several clients in a variety of complex commercial litigation matters including the representation of a financial services client in a class action lawsuit, the defense of a manufacturing client in a multi-jurisdictional trademark and patent infringement litigation, and most recently, the representation of a coal producer in a significant dispute regarding coal sales.
He has also represented clients in connection with a variety of debt and equity financing projects, including a $65 million credit facility to a coal company, a $125 million credit facility to a coal company and private placement offerings ranging from $500,000 to $35 million.
